GLADIUS integrates AI-based data processing, supporting sensor fusion, automatic image recognition, mission planning, and command and control (C2) functions carried out both directly aboard unmanned plat- forms and at ground-based data analysis nodes. The system is characterized by full interoperability with integrated bat- tle management systems (BMS), including artillery fire control systems. GLADIUS has undergone rigorous testing and has proven itself in high-in- tensity conflict conditions. Operational Use in the Polish Armed Forces The first NATO user of the GLADIUS system is Poland, where it entered service with the Rocket and Artillery Component (WRiA) branch in the form of battery-level fire modules (BMO). All system elements are mount- ed on wheeled platforms, ensuring high tactical mobility and operational autonomy. The system provides long-range reconnaissance capability (up to 100 km), supporting tube and rocket artillery operations. GLADIUS enables the full decision cycle within the "sensor-to- shooter" chain — from target detection, through engagement with its own effectors, to battle damage assessment (BDA). The system can operate as a standalone battery-level formation or as detached platoons or reconnaissance-and-strike sections supporting oth- er tactical formations. Command and Interoperability The foundation of integration across all system components is WB Group's proprietary TOPAZ Integrated Battle Management System. Thanks to the implementation of the ASCA interface (Artillery Systems Coopera- tion Activities), GLADIUS provides full interoperability with allied fire sup- port systems, as confirmed during multinational exercises. At the heart of the module are launchers equipped with universal launch ramps compatible with various types of unmanned aerial vehicles. These launchers can be mounted on armored and unarmored vehicles of differ- ent types, deployed as towed launchers, or configured as portable sys- tems for specialist units. www.fragoutmag.com
