MATERIALS There are two main fabrics in Level 7. The outershell is lightweight but durable, densely woven ripstop nylon with polyurethane coating on the inside so the fibers of synthetic insulation will not come out. Nylon fabric has layer of DWR coating, durable water repellent to protect against light drizzle or longer exposure to melting snow, especially during static activities when snow would be pressed against the fabric. The fabric is not waterproof as that's not a rain gear and the possibility of rainfall in temperatures around minus 15 Celsius degrees is close to none. Have you ever expect any? The outer fabric should provide sufficient protection against short laying in snow. Lining on the inside of the jacket is smooth and soft lightweight nylon ripstop fabric. A great feature of that fabric is that it will not catch any Velcro The core of the Level 7 jacket and its true guts is Climashield Apex synthetic insu- lation. The microfibers with a continuous structure will provide thermal insulation even after becoming wet. Climashield is one of the top insulation solutions available in the market and it's extensively used by some of the most popular outdoor brands, like The North Face, Arc'teryx or Tilak just to mention the few. Helikon decided on its use due to the high performance insulation and offer first widely available military/ tactical jacket with Climashield. No more cheap cotton wool fillings! The amount of insulation is different in selected zones. The torso and sleeves have 100 g/m 2 of insulation; the hood has 67 g/m 2 . The Helikon-Tex Level 7 jacket is medium weight insulation jacket designed as an excellent replacement for ever popular ter-weight fleece jackets used as overgarment or insulation conditions. The synthetic filled jacket works well in virtually entire of low temperatures in Central Europe. The main purpose behind sign were low-temperature static activities as bivouac, guard duties a warming layer during brake in march or patrol. Level 7 has roomy short cut which is little different than in the jackets from other turers but it still migh be worn as an outer layer over other clothing. to highlight, beside the name which is similar to ECWCS GEN jacket, the Helikon's product is not weight/filling equivalent to original.
