Fire! We have shot the rifle at the firing ranges of the new fb Łucznik-radom plant, opened on 1 july (see the report in this issue of Frag Out!). First we fired them for accuracy at 100 meters, then we moved to the 25 meters range nearby. We shot them at 100 m, sitting at the bench, with rifle supported, using the aimpoint micro t-1 red dot sight (w/o magnifier) at electronic targets, imaging the hits on a display by the shooting bench in real time. We shot both versions, K and B, with 16-inch barrels. I must admit, the rifle is accurate – see the attached targets (the grid is xx cm square). Even without individual zeroing the group was really fine – and would be better if not for the last flyer (yellow dot). At the 25 meter range we checked the rifles out for handling and stability in burst and fully automatic fire. We have spent several hundred rounds, quite a number for what still technically is a prototype, and they functioned smoothly. The rifle is very stable, as can be seen in the accompanying movies – even the inexperienced shooter would master the recoil and muzzle jump with no problems, and for a seasoned shooter the MSBS is a very pleasant weapon to shoot, even at AUTO. Compared with an ar-15 of the similar barrel length (but fitted with a muzzle break) the Polish rifle was a tad harder to control – though the resulting groups were very similar. For a shooter with ingrained m4/m16 manual of arms, the msbs-k needs a bit adjusting, as the bolt release is different, not at the side of the lower receiver, but at the sides of the trigger guard. But after a short adjustment one would notice, that this arrangement is noticeably faster to operate, and facilitates the immediate actions. www.fragoutmag.com
