The days when a helmet was only a head protection are gone – nowadays this part of the military equipment is required to be more universal. Besides providing protection for a head at the required level, a helmet has to enable a collision-free cooperation with active hearing protection and communications system, a mounting bracket for the night vision devices or thermal imagers (frequently with a counterweight), flashlighs, strobe lights and IR IFF markings or patches. The MSA is a company with a huge experience in the helmet manufacturing – for years it has been one of the major suppliers of this protective equipment for the European and United States Armed Forces. The MSA, which acquired the CGF company in the past was responsible for such famous and revolutionary design of MICH helmet. In 2013 there were presented two new helmet series: MSA Gallet TC 500 and MSA Gallet TC 800, which are elements of the ARCH (Accessory Rail Combat Helmet) system. There are four different variants of helmets, although one can really speak about three which differ with a height of the side cut. So, markings TC 800, TC 801 and TC 802 are connected with helmet with a shell thickness of 8 mm and match a shape - respectively – an MICH/ACH shell, full cut and step-cut aka gunfighter cut). A helmet with a shell thickness of 5 mm appears only in the TC 501 version although a manufacturer in all materials mentions "TC 500 and TC 800 helmet series". All the shell are aramide woven constructions. www.fragoutmag.com
