From the perspective of the equipment of soldiers,
the First Gulf War was also very meaningful – it fell to
a period of transition the individual equipment in the
United States Armed Forces from the ALICE gear and
PASGT armor system for the IIFS system, although in
practice the ALICE was still the prime.
The operation in Iraq resulted also in a change of the
standard desert camouflage pattern of the United
States Army from the characteristic six-color pattern,
called commonly a chocolate-chip which became
a symbol of the "Operation Desert Storm" for a new
three-color one, and also in introducing for a com-
mon use the desert combat boots, a resignation from
a night desert camouflage pattern or an evolution of
the personnel armor systems what left the ground
for introducing personal ballistic protection gear on
a wide scale.
