Although operation in Afghanistan might be acknowledged as a truly combat, it was specific – the enemy did not use armored vehicles nor entrenchments, which ROSOMAK APC cannon couldn't deal with. However, Polish Armed Forces are not relatively light armed, exclusively expeditionary forces, sent to the area, where the enemy forces are even lighter armed insurgents. In case of potential conflict in Europe and necessity of defending homeland, the potential enemy will have at least same class of equipment as Polish Armed Forces and the spectrum of possible objectives to counter for ROSOMAK APC will increase. Unfortunately, in confrontation with heavier armored vehicle ROSOMAK APC may lose – technically, it is an infantry carrier which task is to bring soldiers to the area of operations and to support them with its armament. So far our APC are not armed with integrated SPIKE ATGM and their capabilities to engage armored targets are restricted. Infantry ATGM sections after dismounting from ROSOMAK "Spikebus" (basic variant of ROSOMAK APC dedicated for ATGM section transport) are not protected against enemy fire. The same situation is with the entrenchments neutralization or support the troops in the urban area. Taking into the consideration all the factors mentioned above, there is a necessity to introduce into service a vehicle armed with large caliber cannon, capable to use different ammunition (including ATGM fired from the cannon) and capable to eliminate targets, which ROSOMAK APC is not able to deal with currently. WOlf fSv Some armed forces have introduced Fire Support Vehicles (FSV for short) into service – the most famous and widely use is M1128 Stryker MGS (Mobile Gun System) successfully used by US armed vehicles
