Simplifying, some may say it's a P30 on steroids, some even say – a Glock killer. It is an European version of the VP9 pistol
(surprisingly - 40 g lighter), which is the same weapon offer on the US market, which already had its premiere in mid-
2014. There are two variants of the pistol, SF and TR – the difference is in trigger mechanisms. The SF has a 24 N trigger
with 6 mm pull and 3 mm reset. The TR has respectively: 32.5 N, 11 mm and 5 mm. The colors are available, black and RAL
8000.
On the outside the HK SFP9-SF looks similar to the P30 – the frame and slide are very similar: save for the lack of hammer.
The new pistol has a striker-fired Single Action trigger. The striker is cocked by the slide, which means that the trigger pull
is light – but there's no re-strike capability after e.g. a failure to fire.
The HK SFP9 has a polymer frame with exchangeable portions of grip – like in a growing number of the modern firearm.
Contrary to e.g. Glock Gen.4, the exchangeable portions of the grip are not limited to the backstrap – also the side panels
are removable. The basic kit comprises three sets of grip panels: one on a gun, sized M, with two additional, S and L.
The exchanging is very easy and limited to extracting one pin, and sliding in and out of the needed panels. For further
customization one does not have to exchange the whole sets to match the sizes: if need be, the Large backstrap can be
paired with e.g. Medium right side and Small left side panel. Owing to that the grip interface system offers a mind-bend-
ing amount of combinations: 27 in total.
