Installation is straight-forward. Clear and strip off your
stock as usual, clear out any debris, and slide on the
i6MK4R. Ensure it's fully in place or else the lower re-
ceiver will not lock in properly. The fit is nice and tight
with absolutely no wobble. Your new stock of choice
can now be affixed in the same way you would with
any other stock on an AR (sans buffer and spring, of
course). Want to stake it in place? Go right ahead. Want
to use a Noveske or Magpul endplate? You can do that
too. PRS stock for a precision build? Sure. UBR? Vltor
A5? ACE SOCOM? Yes, yes, and yes. Install a bunch of
M16A1 furniture to make a science fiction inspired Vi-
etnam rifle? Go right ahead (bonus points for an Arm-
son OEG with that one).
But what about folding? Not many want to compro-
mise the small footprint of a folding stock for storage
or transport. Fear not, several companies make folding
stocks for AR receivers, usually for dedicated .22LR set-
ups where a buffer and spring are not required. Since
no buffer or spring is needed, you can use those as
well. An ACE ARRB/ARRB-C receiver block can be add-
ed for almost endless options and LAW Tactical stocks
have already been used successfully with the i6MK4R.
It is noteworthy that how functional your SCAR is
while a stock is folded is going to depend on the stock
adapter used, the stock itself, and how your SCAR is
configured. I've already been having daydreams about
the NEA HK-style collapsible on a short barreled SCAR
but no confirmation if that particular stock will work
within the dimensions of the receiver.
The i6MK4R buttstock adapter is just the first offering
of an entire line of exciting new products for the FN
SCAR. After using this adapter, I for one, am waiting
with bated breath for the rest of the series.
