PHOTO OPS It is the first time when Polish upgraded MiG-29M (NATO code Fulcrum) appeared under Lithuanian skies. It should be noted here that Polish MiG-29M are completely different than Russian upgraded fighters, the only thing in common is the designation. During the modernization program, most of the effort was di- rected into the equipment which has largest impact on pilot and his activities. Multifunctional MFCD 5x4 display was installed, camera directed on HUD was added as same as additional radio system, MDP mission computer, INS navigation platform and new data links. All the upgrade should highly improve the overall comfort of pilot, increase his situational awareness and will also enable to record his action from the first person perspective which could be crucial especially during such operations as Baltic Air Policing. Video recorded during such mission documenting the violation of airspace, might be considered as highly valued evidence. New MiG-29M fighters are tested during standard duties, alarm duties and simulated dogfights were their opponents are modern and more advanced Eurofighters. www.rbsphotos.com/bartosz-bera
