SySTem CombaT 56 – Hand-To-Hand
FigHTing SySTem
The Combat 56 hand-to-hand fighting system was developed in 1980's in the Polish special
forces unit when Poland was still in the Eastern Block. It is simple, it is brutal, it is working.
Fight hand-to-hand in special forces units has always been a significant element of the training although with more and more
technical angle of the modern combat its importance had become decreasing and decreases until today. In the Polish armed
forces in the martial arts the period of the 1980-1990's was the time of comparing and providing experiments, and at the same
time looking for the techniques in the various styles and schools.
At first, someone tried to implement North Korean Kyoksul martial art in military units, later judo instructors from the military
sports clubs have their moment of glory and after some time someone decided to teach karate and jujitsu. The latter one in
Poland was very close to the sport judo and in the fundamental way deviated from the roots of the classic jujitsu, which is an
offensive, combat martial arts.
