SySTem CombaT 56
The Combat 56 system (in the early version called also only Combat) were initially created over the period 1986–1987 by Lt. Arkadiusz Kups
when we was serving in the special company of 20th Armoured Division – at this moment, Polish armed forces did not have independent
special operations forces but in almost every division there was a special company which could be used as long range reconnaissance or deep
raids behind enemy lines. Since Poland was in Eastern Block, the organisation, structure and tasks were close to Soviet Specnaz (Spetsnaz) and
the potential enemy were NATO countries. He gathered a group of people and they started experimenting – they based on the different styles
and martial arts trying to find the best elements. In short time, Kups who completed trainings of viet vo dao and jujitsu, was sent to 1st Assault
Battalion in Dziwnów. Previously, as a practice part of studies in the Military Academy of Land Forces, he was attached for one year to the 62nd
Special Company in Bolesławiec where he had an opportunity to train with the Kyoksul martial arts instructors. After being transferred to the
56th Special Company he started to develop a system – he found a sympathetic ear.
