The unique feature of MSBS rifle family is the common upper receiver and two lower receivers which allows to configure weapon into the standard or bull-pup variant and that is the main reason of continued development of MSBS-5,56B. Also, this variant might be an excellent possible replacement for 9 mm submachine guns still issued as a personal defense weapon for combat vehicle crews and rear echelon troops. At the current stage the pre-production prototypes still have lower receivers made from CNC-machined polymer but not the 3D rapid prototyping ones as in the first variant we had opportunity to test drive in FRAG OUT! #01. The final version will be fitted with injection molded lower receivers which are still tested in the factory. Perhaps, if the Polish Armed Forces will decide to buy also the bull-pup variant, the whole introduction process will be much quicker than it was and still is with the MSBS-5,56K. Currently, the new and shorter barrels for basic assault rifles are being developed. We cannot provide any additional information at this moment but for surely they will not have any rifling on the outside, mostly due the economic reasons as rifled barrels have more complicated manufacturing process and they are significantly more expensive than standard ones. New flash hider is also in the test phase – it is visible in the pictures. MSBS-BULL www.fragoutmag.com
