Another interesting part of MSBS system is 40mm under-
barrel grenade launcher for 40 x 46 SR grenade shells.
It has very distinctive design as the designers wanted to make a
weapon which is lightweight, compact and fitting closely to the
shape of the rifle (both standard and bull-pup variants). Some
may even say that grenade launcher is almost a bull-pup one be-
cause the trigger and safety switch are placed closely to the busi-
ness end of the barrel. The shape of the grenade launcher is very
similar to the MAGPUL AFG/AFG2 accessory grip which takes into
account natural body mechanics and provides a comfortable and
stable user interface that reduces fatigue and allows for more
precise weapon control. The trigger system is DAO aka double-ac-
tion only which simplifies the overall construction. In the front
part of trigger guard, a barrel unlocking button was placed with
the ambidextrous safety switch.
For loading the shells, the barrel is pivoting to the left side.
Grenade launcher is compatible with most of the 40x46 mm SR
low-velocity projectiles. It cannot be converted to the right-side
pivoting as the designers wanted to keep the construction as sim-
ple as possible and lightweight.
The under-barrel 40 mm grenade launcher for MSBS system has
its own foregrip with two side MIL-STD-1913 accessory rails to
attach it the place of original rifle foregrip. The frame for stand-
alone use is still in development phase but according to our sourc-
es it will have collapsible stock and additional front grip.
