GUN PORN www.fragoutmag.com Bolt catch button does not require any replacement with aftermarket parts. It is appropriately profiled and it enables with a small movement to release a bolt catch. As I shoot at the same time with other pistols, I do not use this lever as a standard solution. I prefer, if I have such an opportunity, using the second hand by which I grip a slide. It allows me for an intuitive work with a weapon and eliminates a risk of looking for a lever under a finger. While discussing further a design of the XDM, here we come to the metal iron sights. It is a classic 3-dot system which I call a "math". And how to name in the other manner a situation in which I have three dots in the same colour and I have to place them in the row? I am neither a fan of this solution nor a fan of the Glock sights. I still seek a perfect solution and here helped me a dealer where I bought fibre optic iron sight. According to the trends of the last years it is a system, in which a front sight is very wide and tightly fills a space in the frame created by the rear sight. In my XDM a front sight is thinner (optional) and a rear sight is factory one. Therefore, I have at my disposal a front sight which is the most suitable for me. In order to completely get rid of "maths", I decided to paint the white dots on the rear sight. In this way the only thing which interest me in the field of vision is a well visible, red optic fibre. I know that this solution may be quite astonishing, but lately on the market have appeared very interesting sights made by Frank Proctor - the Y Notch™ which have the similar rule of operation. So, I hope that if Frank Proctor decided for this choice, so I – a civilian and amateur shooter – also contrive well. For the shooters inclined toward the tactical trainings I must mention that these sights are rather low height what effectively impedes reloading a firearm with a belt, Kydex holster or a shoe (aka Instructor Zero style). I assume that a small number of You know for which purpose is an insert in the front part of the trigger guard, which can be found in certain designs. In theory, I was an insert supposed to increase a strength of the trigger guard impact in the case of the hand- to-hand combat with a pistol in your hand, and an additionally profiled front wall should feather out the obstacles so that they do not flow down along the oval trigger guard to the shooter's hand. I have a rich imagination and I have made a lot of stupid things in my entire life, but story with the trigger guard still makes me wonder what had in mind a man who conceived that. Whether or not, a trigger guard is thick, protects a trigger well and at the same time leaves a relevant amount of space for the finger in the glove. Moreover, it is not so extended as in many other modern guns. I am very fond of this rounded magazine release button, which already as a fabric-made is in the ambidextrous version, what will be particularly appreciated by the southpaw shooters (but it is the only ambidextrous manipulator in this pistol). It operates smoothly, and at the same time thanks to a well profiled space for a thumb in the handgrip, it is hard to press it accidently and release a magazine by mistake. However, it is worth to remember about this element while cleaning. Due to its design and a pass- through location in the pistol it requires a careful cleaning from both sides in order to get rid of the dust or dirt particles from the inside. I warn against it, and I admit that personally I have never had any problem with operating of this part of the gun. bOlt catch siGhts tRiGGeR GUaRd maGaziNe Release bUttON
