Recently, Polish Armed Forces launched PEGAZ (English PEGASUS) program to find and procure the new multi-purpose combat vehicle. The supposed total number of new vehicles in two variants - basic and command – is 500. A hun- dred of them will be delivered to the Special Forces and rest of them will be de- livered to air cavalry, mountain infantry plus mechanized and armored units. One of vehicle which is demonstrated as a potential offer is Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles & Kraus-Maffei Wegmann Armoured Multi-Purpose Vehicle aka AMPV which could be manufactured in Poland by Rosomak S.A. In June 2015 in the WITPIS near Warsaw a demonstra- tion of the Armoured Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV ) was held for which were invited, among others, the representatives of the Special Forces and the Land Forces. There was also a Media Day organized for de- fense journalist – as usual, FRAG OUT! Magazine crew was on the ground. The AMPV is a vehicle developed together by a consortium of German Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles and Kraus-Maffei Wegmann. If it will be chosen as a future multi-purpose vehicle of the Polish Armed Forces, Rosomak S.A would be responsible for its "Polonization" as it did successfully before with ROSOMAK wheeled IFV. The vehicle family of the AMPV encompasses two series types. The AMPV Type 1 is the smaller vehicle in terms of vehicle dimensions and is ideal as an agi- le liaison vehicle. In addition, a special patrol version is planned which is suitable for transport with the CH53 transport helicopter. The AMPV Type 2 is characterized by a higher level of protection as well as a higher payload. The entire vehicle family is however based on uniform construction principles and technologies. Both vehicle types have very compact vehicle dimensions which allow for the usage of identical components in terms of logistics. The AMPV vehicle family are medium-sized 4x4 ve- hicles and fits into segment of the vehicles, weight of which does not exceed 10 tones. It is adapted to carry a 4-person crew, but there is also a possibility to install the fifth seat (which is also folded and creates a platform for operating armament in the turret). PROTECTION A vehicle design bases on the self-sup- porting monocoque hull which is a capsule for the entire crew. The AMPV is deprived of the classic chas- sis. Its drivetrain system, transmission system, and a "running gear" are assembled to two semi-frames – front and rear COMBAT VEHICLES
