The UGV is controlled by a wireless signal within a band defined by end-user. Controlling is provided from the control panel which is a rugged tabled placed in the docking station. The station is equipped with the joysticks for controlling the robot and manipulator – they ensure much better sensitivity while operating the PIAP Fenix® than controlling via a touch screen, when it is hard to use precisely a proportional con- trolling (however, this possibility is left). Optionally, a gamepad can be connected to the docking station. The operator panel has dimensions of 40 x 20 x 6 cm and a weight below 3 Kg. It is equipped with a tilt antenna and there is a possibility to connect ad- ditional external antennas. An image from the ro- bot cameras may be displayed on the monitor with an option of transmitting it to the other monitor or the helmet mounted display. There are conti- nuously provided development activities which aim at increasing a functionality of the operator station. The operator panel has also Bluetooth connection. Optional equipment of the PIAP Fenix® may be, e.g.: a set of CBRN sensors, surveillance payloads with low- -lights cameras and thermal imaging cameras, direc- tional microphones, additional illuminators and detec- tors of different kinds (e.g. explosives). A user can also order spare power packs, chargers and a backpack to transport the robot. As it can be noticed, the PIAP Fenix®is a comprehen- sive device which can fulfil a few functions which is missed in the Polish Army. If it appears in the equip- ment of our soldiers, that is a separate issue. However, it certainly can be interesting for the police or law enforcement services, national and foreign, because today nobody discusses about a need to apply such robots and their usefulness.
