The Barrett MRAD shares some design features from the Barrett
M98B which was inspired by Stoner AR-15 system like hinged alumi-
num upper and lower receivers. Those part can come hard anodized
black or Cerakoted in Multi-Role Brown, Flat Dark Earth, OD Green or
Tungsten Grey colors. The handguard and upper receiver assembly
is monolithic one-piece element with full length upper MIL-STD-1913
accessory mounting rail. Sides of handguard is drilled and taped for
additional accessory rails mounted at the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock position –
three different rails come with the MRAD kit.
Rifle is fed from ten round box magazine. The magazine well is integral
part of lower receiver and it was designed to ease the magazine ex-
change in prone position without necessity to move the rifle itself. The
ambidextrous magazine release lever is placed between magazine and
trigger guard. The thumb operated safety lever is one side only but it
might be easily moved from left to right of the receiver.
The MRAD rifle accepts standard M4/M16 pistol grips so the shooter
may easily replace the standard grip with custom ones available from
multiple manufacturers.
