tactical gear inSTallaTion Placing the EPIC Air helmet liner system in most of the hel- mets (excluding the Ops-Core FAST family) is plain simple. Step 1: remove old pads, check the Velcros – some might be old and they should be replaced. In some helmets, like Crye Precision AirFrame some Velcro circles should be added as there are not enough hooks in the crown area. Step 2: add the main 3-piece liner – there are front/back markings so that will be easy part. Step 3: attach the comfort pads in the desired amount. In manual there are some recommended configurations. For sure you will find the one which suit you best. Step 4: add Air Channels in front or even back. You're good to go! Even if you have big noggin' or relative- ly small one, for sure you will find the best way to carry helmet. As Team Wendy states in their leaflets: with EPIC, if it is not comfortable, it's your own damn fault. Take off helmet, rearrange and readjust. in uSe I had some experiences in the past with the earlier, basic EPIC helmet liner system, standard issue adjustable pads and Occ-Dial and hard EPP pads from the Ops-Core helmets and bump helmets so I could verify if the EPIC Air is worth anything. I was using the Team Wendy EPIC Air for few months so here is my short story about them. Pads and liner are really comfortable. They do not become stones after exposure to the low temperatures. Weather was not on my side so I decided to put them wet into freezer for couple of days. After that, they were still flexi- ble. Old school Oregon Pads (green/black ones) would be hard as rocks… I put throw the EPIC Air helmet liner inside the Crye Precision AirFrame helmet. EPIC replaced the eight suspension pads from… Team Wendy which is OEM for Crye – their system is good, but the EPIC feels more stable and more comfortable seconds after you put it on your melon. In July there was really hot summer here and the Crye AirFrame and EPIC Air combo was working flawlessly – yeah, the air channels and the slit in the back of the hel- mets proved to work great, you could really feel the air flowing through them. You cannot stop sweating but the sweat wasn't pouring on my face. If you are using hearing protection/communication head- set with classic headband, you must remove the crown section of the main liner – otherwise, there will be pres- sure on the headband and on the skull. And that would really suck. The comfort provided by the EPIC Air liner is so great that I made a decision to do organ transplantation – it will require some work and time but I will put the EPIC Air in- side the Ops-Core helmet.
