According to the words of MoD spokesman, Polish Armed Forces will be using UAV systems made in Poland. It seems to be right cho-
ice as Polish industry has potential, both technological and financial, to design, develop and manufacture world-class Unmanned
Aerial Vehicles of different categories. One of the leading companies capable to answer to such demands is Flytronic company, a
part of WB Group.
When more than year ago I was traveling to the Flytronic for the first time, which is located in Gliwice, southern Poland, honestly
speaking, I was expecting the "garage" company manufacturing a little bit more advanced RC toy planes. And I was truly amazed
when I finally got there.
The company was started in 2007 when a bunch of guys with different background (engineers, glider pilots, electronics and scale
modelers) but with the same passion received order to develop complete unmanned aerial vehicle system. The company was
approached by the WB Electronics and the initial budget for order was 0.5 million PLN (at that moment it was around 160K USD).
The team, using the experience, knowledge and some already available components, completed the order but it turned out that
they were working almost as volunteers – the whole funding was spent on project itself. The successful order was followed by esta-
blishing the Flytronic company in 2008 which is now employing more than 80 people with different specialties. Company headqu-
arters located in technological cluster allows to build the different airships in-house, completely from scratch.
