Yup, the round is more powerful, but then the pistol is heavier,
especially when fully loaded. Accurate shooting is as easy. The 10-
shot groups shown besides were shot quite fast, at a steady rhythm,
at 25 yards.
With a minimum of skill and training, the FNX-45 might prove a
mean target pistol. For tactical use the sloping front part of the
Standard's rear sight might be a nuisance, as it precludes emergency
cycling the slide with one hand, catching with the rear sight on
the parts of uniform or equipment. In the Tactical, the sights are
different, and devoid of that nuisance.
The slide has serrations on the front and back parts, which aid
in reloading greatly. Not too aggressive – just catchy enough.
Reloading is easy: the return spring is not stiff, so that you don't
have to wrestle with the pistol.
FNH FNX-45 is a specific firearm, catering for the shooting
aficionados, and rather those with a penchant for tactical big-
bores. It just does not appear to be overly sporty – it's martial
through and through. And the Tactical even more than Standard.
Some sportsmen would probably love it, but it would make a furor
with all the "tacticool" freaks. Big gun, chambered for a big, manly
(and unfortunately – expensive) round, it lends itself excellently
for "tactical" training. Shooting is a pleasure, and FNX-45 is a very
accurate weapon.
It definitely is not a cheap gun, especially in Tactical variation,
but if you like big bored "hangdonnes", this is one more for you to
consider.
