The popularity of combat pants began from the legen- wait for it-dary Crye Precision Combat Pants which was the first company to offer such trousers made for highly-aggressive combat operations. Its main feature were built-in pockets for knee protecting inserts with the shell outside the pants replacing the standard knee pads. Other companies copied the idea with minor changes or made different trousers but base on Crye's idea. UF PRO presented completely different approach to this subject. MATERIALS The UF PRO Striker XT Combat Pants visible in the pictures are in PenCott GreenZone camouflage pattern. Pants are hybrid construction. Main fabric is durable and resistant MILSPEC 50/50 NYCO Ripstop fabric with NIR treatment. The second is 4-way stretch Schoeller Dynamic (92% Polyamid and 8% Elastan or Spandex) which is used on the butt, crotch and inner parts of thighs and near knee protection. Thank to it, trousers are bit stretchy so they don't hinder the user as it can take place while wearing standard trousers. At the beginning I was concerned about that "stretch" material, mostly of its durability especially when using in high density forest areas – after all it turned out that Shoeller Dynamic is thick enough to withstand any abrasions. The last type of the material used in this trousers is Cordura nylon, placed on knees, where the wear and tear resistance was priority... DESIGN Pants have elastic waist so they can fit in some range without using belt. Striker XT have a two-way zipper, metal hook and snap in the fly. Such construction makes using a fly much easier when we have vest and belt worn (if you ever used such gear you know how hard it is to find the fly sometimes...). Belt loops are interesting because they are doubled which allows to use duty/riggers belt in loops without moving on the hips during action. At the first glance, we see loops just for the duty belt but underneath them we can use standard, slim belt. What is more, every single loop is closed with press-stud which allows user to put the belt on without detaching gear from it. www.fragoutmag.com
