A landscape has begun to change from the dead rocks for the mountains covered with moss and lichens. Afar i have already heard a rustle of the waterfalls which are in the thora region. the weather has slowly changed into a rainy one. At the end of my march, a rain wet me once again, and crossing the last river has been very dangerous with regard to the excessive stream. A though about a camp and a dry place has made me zestful to overcome an obstacle as soon as possible. At the last stage of the trail i have been accompanied by clumps of trees and bushes which have vibrated with green. A smell of green spaces and pure air unpolluted by a human activity is a cool stuff. i have seen a large, unlimited space extending to the left from the glacier wall. imagine a great deal of rocks on the left, and on the right – nothing! An empty desert plain, a view like from the fantasy movies. while encamping, i have thought about the next day. i have been informed about the further storm and a pass between two glaciers covered with snow. Actually, i have not known yet what awaits me and what i have been to overcome on the next day. THE DAY OF THE RAVEN A morning weather has not resembled a stormy one which i have encountered in the desert. Probably due to a fact that i have been in the valley, between mountains enclosed by the thor's forest. setting off in the direction of the glacier pass, i have not been aware how difficult is the route i have been supposed to overcome. it has been the next day when i have administered analgesics tablets, and a condition of my Achilles tendons have not foretold nothing good. from time to time i have felt a pain in my knee, then it has transformed into a calf contraction and tibialgia. An initial weight of my backpack (28 kilograms or over 60 lbs) and 300 kilometers which i have already had on my counter, have been an etymology of my ailments. i have also suffered from abrasions of my shoulders and armpits. Ascending a hill, and to tell you precisely a glacier pass, have turned out a thorny pass. A great physical and physical effort. the higher altitude, the stronger wind has blown. i have never felt so cold wind – i have been dressed in four layers of clothing, i have ascended and i have still felt coldness. from an altitude of 100m i have climbed to 1100m, but it has not been a roundabout way leading step by step upwards. it has been a sharp, steep ascend. once through a slip rock, another time in the snow. A wind has blown from the left, and on the right side has been a cliff. All the time i have had to protect myself with a right stick, under such an angle so that not to fall www.fragoutmag.com
