The pain which accompanies burns is very intensive and lasts certainly longer than in the case of a small wound of the other type. Interestingly, the burn wounds heal as long as "traditional" wounds, but a process of recov- ering is frequently associated with complica- tions which can significantly extend its dura- tion.. Therefore you should remember about a few rules which should be applied when you dress the wounds. You should absolutely: @ learn a rule of conducting a temperature inside the body, and consequently – with a structure of the skin tissue and an evaluation of the burn sizes; @ obtain information on an activity of agents that cause burns; @ learn basic rules of providing of first aid in the case of burns; @ know basic life hazards caused by burns; @ get to know an equipment intended for operating in the tactical conditions which prevent conducting a temperature inside an organism.. I am aware that this article will cover this sub- ject completely, but at least it will outline its basic frames. When it comes to burns, you should absolutely consider many factors. Certainly, one of them is a kind of a factor which causes a burn. It can include: @ fire @ inflammable liquids @ hot fluid @ hot object (gun barrel, a debris, etc.) @ explosion blast @ liquid chemicals (e.g. acid or alkali) @ solid material (e.g. white phosphorus) @ gases. Depending on the place where it is activated, you give first aid taking into account an activity of the con- cerned factor. Structure and functions of the skin It is good to become familiar with a structure and functions of the skin tissue. In order to provide first aid correctly you should know and understand mechanisms of this specific part of the human body, shouldn't you? The skin consists of the following main layers: @ epidermis; @ dermis; @ subcutaneous layer. www.fragoutmag.com
