At first glance, someone may think that the sight is large and heavy. one should remember that this is a dual sight, with functions of an optoelectronic and an optical one (or a zooming attachment), then it should be compared with the competitive products. Eotech ExpS3 with the magnifier and tilting mount is 195.5 mm long and weighs 635 g, while Aimpoint micro t2 with a magnifier and a fix mount has respectively: length of 192 mm and weight of 465 g. now let us compare it with ELCAN Specter Dr 1-4x that is 153 mm long and weighs 660 g. is it heavy and large, then? Additionally, inclusion of two devices in one body decreases the number of elements, which is also quite an important feature. the mount of the sight is a "panzer" one, two ARms levers make it perfectly fit on the rifle, without any loose spots. what is more, the levers are arranged so that i have never touched the elements of the equipment during dynamic shooting. the additional fixed metal aiming tools allow quite accurate and quick aiming at short distances, in case of damaging the main sight. there is also a possibility of having mounted an additional micro- conditioner, but this would be just an unnecessary gadget. the reticle may be illuminated in two variants: the central dot or the whole reticle. moreover, there are five levels of intensity. All the above mentioned functions of the sight is operated with a knob on the left side of the body. the knob also includes a cR1/3n battery that powers the sight, while the lid is attached to the body with a cord that secures it from being lost. sight adjustments are unusual, but convenient. moving the pointing dot horizontally may be indeed performed with any flat object that we may have with us. you move the dot vertically with your bare hand – the knob is convenient and easy to use. the applied lock maintains the set positions, so you will not remove it by mistake. the field of view is large, clear and vivid, but at a short distance (about 5 m) the view becomes slightly diffused. the zoom changing lever is in the lower part, on the left. in order to change its position, it must be pressed down first (to unlock it), and then move to the front or to the back. this solution is very quick and convenient to use; there is also a secure lock against accidental movement. what is interesting, contrary to such designs like Eotech, Aimpoint or vortex, there is no change in the distance eye – sight when using the magnifier; this is very quick and convenient. shooting with the sigh at short distances does not significantly differ from shooting with popular optoelectronic sights. At longer distances, ELCAN Specter Dr 1-4x is most certainly weaker than optical sights, but it provides good accuracy and identification of the target. i had not been using this sight for a longer time, but if there is a chance to conduct some longer testing, we plan to compare shooting with a time limit and at a longer distance (300 meters) and then we will see which solution is the better one.
