Stalker mk.iii might be considered as combat pants – dedicated direct action type of trousers created for the first time by the Crye Precision from Boston - their most significant features are streamlined design and integrated knee protection pads. The Claw Gear combat pants has probably born thanks to the cooperation with special forces from austria and Switzerland. i do not know what they suggested, but i know, for certain, that they made pants the name of which is as accurate as possible. Their look is clearly associated with the appearance of Stalkers, at least those that we can encounter in the S.T.a.l.k.e.r computer game series FABRICS Shown here Stalker Mk.iii are almost fully made of 65/35 pESco (or poly-cotton) fabric with rip-stop reinforcements. the internal gaiters are the only exception as they have been made out of thin coated 100% nylon rip-stop fabric. DESIGN the pants have a rather loose cut – far more loose than in the case of crye combat pants - and it is characterized with a "panzer" build and an unusually huge number of pockets. the waist of the pants is wide (it has almost 8 cm) and is padded with a thin layer of foam making comfortable when used with stiff duty belts – belt loops are wide enough for belts up to 6.5 cm wide. the Stalker Mk.iii have seven belt loops, the front two of which have D-rings, while the middle back one is a big, trapezoidal loop that holds the back part of the belt. the girth of the waist may be adjusted with two flaps with Velcro strap and it can be, theoretically, tightened up even by 12–13 cm, but in practice this would be uncomfortable and rather impossible. it is, however, easy and possible to adjust the pants by 2–4 cm in girth. Stalker Mk.iii pants are fastened with a large canadian-style slotted buttons and a zippered with a single ykk zip. the seat has two reinforcement patches made from second layer of main fabric. the lower part of the legs is also reinforced on the inside at the ankle. the knees have integrated loops for optional knee pads that are fixed on the inside with a snap-in – they are supported only thanks to flexible neoprene insert. the adjustment of the knee pads is possible with two small flaps with Velcro strap that are placed at the back of legs, at the height of knees – there is no adjustment of the height position of the knee pad. the leg cuffs can be tightened with a flap with three snaps. on the inside there are integrated 10 centimeter long gaiters tightened with a shockcord. the lower edge of cuff is reinforced from the inside with a nylon strap. www.fragoutmag.com
