THE RTK is a classic example of the tactical knife made according to the most known recipe in which the most important ingredients are a thick, blackened blade, a handle from the green micarta and a false edge. This what sets apart Artur Szyngwelski's works among many other similar ones, is certainly a tech- nique of manufacturing. Raptor is famous for manu- facturing his knives using files and sandpapers. So, we deal with a masterpiece, in the full meaning of this word. THE BLADE The blade of the knife is made from the O1 steel hard- ened to HRC. It seems to be rather wide in relation to the hand, however a large choil and a long groove in the edge, where begins a false edge, give it a com- bat character. Despite a great thickness (4.5 mm), the blade does not make an impression of a coarse one, the transitions of the edge works are sharp, and all planes are explicitly cut off from each other. The flat cut is provided almost up to ¾ of the blade what decidedly encourages to use it. The military rawness is given to this knife by a dark, graphite shade of the blade obtained by etching in ferric chloride, vinegar and a certain carbonated drink reliable in dissolving your teeth. However, the latter has not fulfilled entirely its task because a brown shade which is given by it to the steel remained only in the vicinity of the guard. With regard to the blade manufacturing, it is really at a high level. Both the cuts, as a cutting edge are aligned very equally and conscientiously, and the lines of the cuts join perfectly in the point of the knife. THE GRIP The knife is a full tang which hand consists of thick, black pads (made of the G10 plastic) and straps made from the green polished micarta. The whole is mount- ed with a butt using three steel tubes. The last bush- ing can be easily used to reeve a string, although at the end of the handle there is a special hidden hollow intended for this. In terms of ergonomics, the knife surprised me very positively. It comfortably adjusts to a hand in each grip (in the sword grip it is required only to move your hand slightly downwards in order to KNIVES
