At first glance, Signal is similar to the MUT, which was created as M4/M16 weapon tool. Signal very clearly benefits from this design, but it is a good thing, sin- ce MUT is one of the best good-looking multitools in Leatherman portfolio, while its younger brother is even more attractive. At least that is my opinion. Putting it simple, it can be said that Signal is down-sized MUT. The basic tool, as in the case of all Leatherman pro- ducts, are combination pliers. The length of the ser- rated working part is 29 mm, 20 mm of which is flat and the remaining 9 – round. Between the serration and the hinge of jaws, a wire cutter was placed, made of 154 CM steel with profiled, replaceable blades for cutting soft and hard wire. Below the hinge, there is an element for clenching electric couplers, the so- called connectors (what is peculiar – this feature has not been mentioned on the producer's website). The jaws hide to the inside of arms made of stainless steel covered with a DLC preventive coating with a black, semi-matte finish. There are some tools on outside of the multitool – you do not have to open it to use them. The knife will for sure be one of the most often used. In the case of Signal, it is a partially serrated (aka combo) 420HC www.fragoutmag.com
