The Polish Police SWAT tactical and tactical medicine workshops were held from 7th to 12th December 2015 in the Police Academy in Szczytno. During a 5-day training course, the police officers have extended their knowledge and skills in the Tactical Combat Casualty Care. The course was organized by the Bureau of Anti-Terrorist Operations (BOA KGP, Polish Police Tier 1 hostage rescue unit) and the Police Academy with support of Eagle Med System tactical medicine train- ing company. The workshops were intended, first and foremost, for the police paramedics in the SWAT teams. Dr. Jarosław Truchan, a director of the Security and Public Order Institute of the Internal Security Depart- ment of the Police Academy took part in the opening ceremon . The director in the brief words of an introduc- tion underlined that the workshops in which participat- ed 40 policemen from BOA and multiple SWAT teams from different cities are the structural fundamentals of a new specialty course program for the police. The main goal of the event was a coordination and a unification of the tactical and medical procedures performed in SWAT Teams. During five days of training, the SWAT team members took part in the tactical and medical simulations, applying first aid procedures and evacuation of casualties from the hazard zones. Before the officers tested skills during the scenarios, they par- ticipated in a wide range of lecturers focused on proce- dures in all the zones, self-rescue, evacuation methods, hypothermia or hemorrhage control. During the practical part which we observed, the police officers practiced CQB procedures. During sev- eral scenarios each team had to eliminate threats, find a wounded person, evaluate properly his health con- dition, secure the wounds, prepare for a transport and extract. Certainly, all "by the book", with a simulation of communication with the commanders and dynamical changes of situations introduced by the instructors. The workshops were prepared by officers Rafał Zawal- niak (Police Academy) and Sławomir Butkiewicz (BOA).
