Plain and simple! The quick detachable barrel (when not too hot) assembly slides into to the receiver and attaches by a barrel-lock. The barrel-lock also regulates the gap between the breech face and the breech end of the barrel. PK barrels have a folding carry handle/grip that is posi- tioned to the left of the receiver and is used to transport the weapon and quickly and safely change-out barrels to prevent barrel over- heating. The bore is chrome-lined and features 4 right-hand grooves at a 240 mm (1 in 9.45 in) rifling twist rate. The muzzle is threaded for the installation of various muzzle devices such as a flash hider. The muzzle has a long slotted flash suppressor attached. The PK and PKM are simple and reliable machine guns, easy to use and maintain. They are recognized as the one of the best general-purpose machine guns in the world. PKM's might be seen in hands of both armed forces and guerrillas or terrorist cells in all parts of the world. PKM is robust, reliable and pretty lightweight when compared to the coun- terparts. It has just few small cons like ammunition, feeding belt and the com- plicated way of feeding the round to the chamber.
