Probably a visit to the shooting range with the GROM Special Mis- sion Units, that is the heirs of the Silent Unseen tradition, had such a positive impact on the memories of Mr. Tarnawski that during an interview which he gave last year to the persons connected to the Silent Unseen Foundation and the Paladin Tac company, Ma- ciej Szalaty and Marek Miśko, throughout a spontaneous discus- sion about an access to the firearm, which – as it turned out – he is a supporter, Captain expressed his wish to visit the shooting range once again. By courtesy of the Museum of the Westerplatte and 1939 War and the Paladin Tac aer nearly one year we were at the shooting range. At our disposal were the VIS pistols (original Polish and German-oc- cupation made one), the British STEN and German MP 40 subma- chine guns, a Glock 17 pistol, the AKMS and AR-15 assault rifles, as well as a PK machine gun. e Captain despite a fact that he is 95 years old showed a great enthusiasm when he used respective types of the weapon. Having a possibility of meeting the hero, we can state with a full responsibility that the weapon arises in the Silent Unseen the greatest interest, what was clearly visible at the shooting range. Mr. Aleksander Tarnawski probably appreciated the most the AR- 15 carbine with a red dot sight, which he compared with affection to the weapon with which he fought during the Second World War. With overwhelming joy he also shot an ammunition belt of the PKM general-pupose machine gun although – as he noticed by himself – his age not very well harmonized with a mass and a recoil of this GPMG. e most symbolic, besides shooting the legendary VIS pis- tols, were shooting a few bursts with the STEN submachine gun, which originates from a historical drop for the Polish underground forces during WW2. Just while shooting this SMG he was asked: Is it possible to shoot with this from the armpit?", what was welcomed with a friendly approval of all people gathered at the shooting range. At the end of the meeting Mr. Aleksander Tarnawski was granted an honorary membership (assigned on 15th June 2015 by the manage- ment board) in the Citizen Gun Enthusiast Movement (ROMB), to which he made personally a declaration of interest during the men- tioned discussion about the firearms. Let's hope that veteran's health will allow not one time for similar meetings – at least you are not the Silent Unseen from time to time, but you are to the end of your life. www.fragoutmag.com
