Silynx Communication from Rockville, MD is a renowned manufacturer of the hearing protection and communications systems with best known ubercool C4OPS visible in the pictures with all the CAG, DEV and other secret squirrel groups and hush-hush units. Few years back it has been a very popular system capable to simultaneously work with two or even three different radios or sources (like intercom on board vehicles). Due to a multitude of its functions, which it has offered and its intended use it has been rather large, armored and expensive (Uncle Sam used to pay for the C4OPS kit with all bells and whistle ~ $2500 pricetag). Due to the obvious reasons it has been also a constant item on the wish lists of each gear freak although only a little of them have managed to acquire it (availability, price and so on …). On the other hand, that the C4OPS is a really very great communication and hearing protection combo so it is not an only a gadget, and it is only a functional device which really works, however in the casual Joe use it is decidedly an overkill. Do you really need two MBITRs on the shooting range? Fortunately, Silynx has quickly understood this situation and during SHOT Show 2016 it has introduced to its offer significantly cheaper, smaller, less complicated and much lighter noise cancelling hearing protecting systems. One of them is the Silynx Clarus PRO. During IWA 2016 in Nuremberg, I have met at the Silynx VP Matthew Hemenez, from whom I have received one kit for review. Throughout the last half year it has sat in pocket of my favorite Mystery Ranch 3DAP backpack every day carry stuff (and also Jurgen's from spartanat.com) and – bedsides a few exceptions – a basic hearing protection. And I have already got to know, that it will stay in it forever. Why? I will let you know below. www.fragoutmag.com
