Deliberately, at the very end I left planning stick for the fire. While in the case of the EDC knives I have rather high requirements within a scope of their sharpness, in the case of the field knives it is sufficient to me to plan a stick, cut smoothly in two the bread rolls and cut out the sausage casings. All of these I could perform without any problem, the knife jerked delicately only in the place of contact with the rusted nail. SUMMARY The KA-BAR BK39 accompanied me at many bonfires during the last three months, replacing a hatchet. Contrary to a common opinion, I am inclined to conclude that it is a good camping knife, and as a such I consider the described model, it can successfully a small axe. The knife turned out to be more convenient, lighter and more versatile that both hatchets used by me, and temporarily it supersedes in my backpack a foldable saw. Ergonomics, simplicity and a "legendary" margin of output are the main advantages of the new Becker design. The design, for sure, deserves an attention of the forest utilitarian, but the aesthetes may feel disappointed. An inaccurate fit of the liners or the deep scratches visible under its coating spoil slightly a reception of this model. The coating itself is also not a protection for the blade. However, I personally think that the BK39 is a very successful knife, which could be recommended to the enthusiasts of camping in the woods with a clear conscience. NOŻE
