The gun is fully ambidextrous – all controls are either doubled or set on centerline. The safety is doubled, so is
the magazine release and the bolt release. The latter would release the bolt from either side – but you can only
use the left-side button to hold the bolt open. In our rifle the bolt release at first moved rather sluggish, but after
several dozen shots it got warmed up, and there were no more problems with it. The magazine well opening was
flared out in a rather remarkable-sized funnel, making magazine exchange a breeze without having to see the
magazine opening.
The handguard is new as well, visually fitting the upper receiver, with an elegant, fluid transition and a handsome
mounting. It was made out of aluminum and fitted with a set of mounting rails. Or three sets, to be precise: the
MIL-STD-1913, KeyMod and novel PicMod system, combining the MIL-STD-1913 rail with the KeyMod system, to
enable the user to employ different mounting solutions in different parts of the handguard.
