The Barrett M107A1 are available in Black, Flat Dark
Earth, Multi Role Brown, Grey or OD Green Cerakote
coatings. The rifle we had a chance to play with,
courtesy of Polish distributor of Barrett firearms, the
CENZIN company (a subsidiary of PGZ), was FDE
coated.
The known users of M107A1 sniper rifles are Korps
Commandotroepen (KCT) special forces unit from
the Netherlands and Belgium special forces. Single
M107A1 with Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56mm scope,
BORS system and Eberlestock carrying pack and
drag bag was bought by Polish Police in 2016. Some
M107A1 were seen in Ukraine during the fights
against the rebels. Some sources claim that M107A1
are used by US armed forces, but that's not true.
SHOOTING
Frag Out! Team had an opportunity to try out Barrett
M107A1 rifle during one cold day in February. The rifle
had Leupold Mark 4.5-14x50mm Scope with Barrett
Ultra High Rings and Barrett Optical Ranging System
attached. Serbian 725 grains Prvi Partizan .50BMG
Browning Match FMJ ammunition was used.
What can you say about shooting from such hand-
held cannon? Big rifle, big ammo and BIG BOOM!
Complete weight of rifle and optics is about 13 ki-
lograms (28.7 lbs), so it's pretty heavy. When set
on the bipod, lock and loaded, with all the optics,
the M107A1 looks as pure awesomeness. How
is shooting? Well, pretty easy. Looking at the
size of the rifle, size of rounds and having
some stupid YouTube videos in the head,
everyone (or those poor bastard who
have never ever shoot with something
bigger than .338) expected big blast
and huge recoil. Honestly, the recoil is
noticeable (remember, this is .50BMG
not the .22), but it won't break your
