The Barrett Reliability Enhanced Carbine debuted in 2007 and the main change was ditching of the Stoner direct gas impingement with short-stroke, piston-driven system. Then, in 2014 the second generation of improved REC7 was shown. The new rifle features one-piece 17-4 stainless pistonm which transfers energy to the anti-tilt bolt carrier. Machined from a monolithic block of 8620 steel, the carrier features an integral piston strike face. The REC7 rifle's dependability stems largely from its innovative operating system. Using a minimum number of parts, the piston system separates heat and powder residue from the bolt carrier and trigger assembly. The rifle runs cool and clean, re- ducing maintenance requirements and increasing endurance. The Barrett Enhanced Bolt designed specifically for REC7 is made from high-strength 9310 steel. Reinforced at critical areas, every bolt is proofed and magnetic-particle inspected to guarantee reliable performance. At the heart of the operating system is a nitrided, two-position, for- ward-venting gas plug that retains the piston. The piston can be accessed through the front of the gas block without removing the handguard so opti- cal sights or laser devices do not need to be zeroed after routine maintenance. Fresh from the factory, the REC7 comes with a nice kit of accessories - the Barrett Enhanced Rail handguard with KeyMod slots, Magpul MOE stock, BCM Gunfighter charging handle and Precision Reflex Industries steel back-up sights. The lower houses an ultra-dependable Geissele Automatics Super Semi-Automatic (SSA) trigger in semi-au- tomatic version or Geissele Automatics Super Select-Fire (SSF) in select-fire one. Trigger guard is enlarged so the rifle might be operated in win- ter gloves (and it works, we have checked it for you). REC7 comes also with the two Magpul PMAG magazines.
