LOTOS AND HIS 8815 I will start surprising you. For years I have big trauma of owning a watch. There was a time in my life when everyone dream of quartz watches that would play seven melodies and kids prized their treasures nor- mally given as a gift on a day of your First Communion. They all had a silver-ish cases. Mine was… well… my first "serious watch" one was small and womens'! That was a time when I started loving my Turkish sweater along with its way too long sleeves that helped me cover up my secret. A secret of a boy wearing a girl's watch… The time has passed, I have grown up a bit and put my hands on Luminox 8815. My first thought – a Swiss-made watch for the Navy SEALs. When I looked closer, it turned out that it really is a bit like that but also that my first opinion was not entirely true. It looked tough but it is really light. It was supposed to be worn by a real ninjas but was great for a guy with a "watch trauma". I have started wearing new watch and some strange things happened. First of all, that lightweight piece that did not catch onto anything, that designer, show – it - all watch, did not bother me at all. The second thing is, my mates started noticing it when I was holding on to the Harley's handlebar, serving drinks on the porch, when we went to the shooting range or when I was standing right next to my friend's cab- rio colored exactly the same as the elements of my 8800. Some people would probably say that it is a bit tacky, plastic and cheap. It is made of carbon and rubber and does not make a very good first impres- sion of a reliable, solid mechanism that can be used every day and meet all of expectations even though that is exactly what it is. I was not able to break it, it was so hard to scratch it, the belt did not feel un- comfortable and my arm was not awfully sweaty after wearing it whole day. Few times I smashed it hard on the door or the car trunk and nothing happened. Not a part was broken, bent or fell off. It was still working! Now, after few month of using it, I can say that I treat it a bit as a "man's talisman". I would not leave home without it because when I wear it, my endeavors are always well timed. www.fragoutmag.com
