3050 AS SEEN BY RABBIT I have never had many watches. I got my first one from my mum. Then it was a classic with seven mel- odies and an alarm function, afterwards some aw- ful Chinese thing and finally a Casio, I bought with my own money after my first paycheck (it was 27 years ago and I have it to this day). Then I had some PX bought "regular" Timex and I stopped wearing watches all together for a few years. Just because. In 2007 or maybe 2008 I saw one of my special forces friends with green Luminox SEAL Colormark 3050 on hand and I thought that it would be cool to have something like that. I have bought it with a "military" discount thanks to the same mate, but my wife will be telling me about it till the day I die. Well, tough life. I have been wearing it for some five years until I swapped for, what a coincidence, Luminox Team Leader. It should be enough time to judge a time- piece, don't you think? For those five years I have been wearing my Luminox almost every day, without even taking it off. What did I do with it? I do not remember the details but for sure there have been plenty of things that would put it at risk of damaging. It survived with only one scratch acquired, I remember it well, when I smashed the door frame at my parents' house in pretty unlucky manner. Bad luck. Apart from that – no other damag- es, just usual signs of wear and even those were not big at all. I notice the difference in intensity of the tritium capsules comparing to the newer watches. I do not know if it's just the regular wear or maybe just an update technology used in the recent models. The only thing that has damaged in 3050 for the whole period I was using it was the strap. I had three of those, the last one is still in use. In first it has bro- ken just next to the buckle and in the second the buckle itself got damaged. Supposedly, it was be- cause of the qualities of the material from which the strap was made. Apparently it did not like the con- tact with chemicals from soap, shampoos and show- er gels. The third one survived longer than other two, because it has been two years and it's still OK. I was told it is made using newer technology but just to stay on the safe side I tried to keep it away from all the detergents. Apart from that, I cannot say a bad word about it. It is light, readings are clear (although the green col- or makes it a bit flashy), it is comfortable. I did not experience any discomfort wearing it in the scorch- ing sun though wrist was getting a bit sweaty, it did not bother me, was not catching onto anything. Oh well, OK, I had troubles (sometimes) when I wanted t wear gloves but for God's sake, it is not a slim, elegant thing; it is a thick, "tactical" timepiece, so it should not come as a surprise. What I would like to have in it is an alarm. If it had it, it would be awesome, without it, it is only good. But after all, it is one of the cheapest Luminox watches… I have changed the battery once, so it is not bad at all, I had no problem doing it on my own. Nowadays, the 3050 rests on the shelf and I rarely wear it but it is there. And still works. EDC
