the area for index fingers was covered with similar but thinner material in order to increase the feel of the finger on the trigger (all in all, these are shooting gloves). Synthetic wrap-overs on the fingers were profiled to fit the shape of the fingers – they do not have straight edges, they are gently curling. The thickest layer of Clarino with foam padding was used for the pisiform bone (on the side, outer side of the wrist) to protect the against hits. The same fabric, but without the foam, was used for the adjusting flap placed on the upper surface near the wrist. In order to improve ventilation, there is a number of small holes inside the hand, nails, and the bottom side of the fingers. What is more, in times of the commonly used devices with touch- screens, the fingertips of the thumb and the index finger include a special thread to enable using such types of screens. (It has been solved differently in the new version). The top of the gloves is made of nylon. The most of it is made of thickly-weaved elastic nylon that was used from the wrist up to knuckles – it's four-way stretch so the gloves will fit close to the hand. On the upper part, on the knuckles, there is stretch Cordura nylon with very rough surface and foam padding which secures the knuckles against impacts. The upper surface of the fingers is a world-class solution – they include sewn-ins in form of nylon joints, the same materials that was used for the upper side of the hand. The sewn-ins are divided into sections (small finger, ring finger, and the middle finger – two sections, index finger – three sections, thumb – one section), which are from the bottom connected with elastic inserts of loosely-woven, breathable nylon. The same material was used for the sides of the fingers and the gaps between them. The thumb and its base is made of Clarino, slightly elastic as well. The base of the thumb, near the wrist, has a sewn-on Velcro loop for adjustment – what is interesting, the loop holds the adjustment flap firmly, but the strap itself is not very adhesive, so it will not hook into clothes or elements of equipment, as well as will not pill them. There is also a loop to facilitate putting on the gloves (hanging them or attaching to a carabiner). The loop is sewn on the bottom, near the wrist with a rubber logo of the manufacturer on the seam holding the adjustment flap. PIG Full Dexterity Tactical Alpha Glove are available in sizes from S to XXL and in the following colors: Black, Coyote, Ranger Green, and Carbon Grey. Price of current production version – $42.95 IN ActION I have been using PIG Full Dexterity Tactical Alpha for almost a year and those are my primary gloves except the season when I use something thicker to protect myself against cold (my hands get chilled to the marrow). I do not expose those gloves to unnecessary burden (to carry metal targets, I use work gloves – the metal sheets have become a bit rough). I use them for shooting and, let's say, "tactical" training. They are my favorite gloves. Thanks to the large amount of elastic materials, gloves fit well to the hand and do not obstruct movement. It is very important because a badly selected glove may piss you off. However, our hands are sometimes "out of the size chart" – small gloves are too small, large gloves are too large. Then, we have a problem. In PIG FDT-A, the problem is solved because they stick well to your hands. By the way – in case of the majority of manufacturers, I use gloves in size Medium; when it comes to Alpha, I have Large and it is perfect, I do not even have to draw the adjusting flap too much. Despite all of that, before buying, it is good to check the size chart on the manufacturer's website. The thick nylon protects against mechanical damage, while the foam padding increase safety against being hit in sensitive spots. Hands are exposed to such hits during "tactical exercises". I think the application of breathable nylon in joints and inserts is a perfect idea – even on hot days, there is no fear of excessive sweat on hands. Of course, your hands will sweat, it is physiology after all, but it is still better than in the case of many other models. Ventilation is also supported by vent holes, but they have their vices – sand or dirt may get through those holes as well, which is annoying. Something for something... The Clarino leather provides good feel of grasp and pretty decent grip – it is sufficient. The thinner leather on the index finger helps in having better feel on the trigger. www.fragoutmag.com
