A history of this event reaches to the late 1980s, when in 1987 in Staffordshire under the auspices of legendary Billy "Mr. Mouse" Wilson was held the first "Tough Guy Challenge" still deemed, even after 30 years, as the most extreme one- day steeplechase in the world. 80 years old Wilson faith- fully stands at the forefront of the event and devises more and more difficult tasks for the runners, often marked with the "enter at your own risk" labels. Practically, each of the extreme steeplechases organized in the world at the con- cerned moment has been or is inspired by a main idea of the Tough Guy -, i.e. to check up the limits of the physical and mental strength of the participants. THE TOUGH VIKING 2017 co-organized by the Lumionx brand and based on an idea of Luminox Special Operations Challenge events, which are inspired by the mur- derous exercises and tasks, which must undergo the can- didates for the Navy SEALs aimed at checking up mental toughness of the candidates and their ability to make de- cisions and team work in a situation, when you are led to extreme, during the more commonly known "Hell's Week". This time a majority of the field obstacles and tasks have been developed by the instructors from the Swedish special forces unit Kustjägarna, an equivalent to the SEALs, what is supposed to guarantee the emotions and challenges at the highest-level close to a recruitment of the candidates for the operators. The official sponsor – the Luminox, has prepared a new limited series of the Luminox Navy SEAL Tough Viking watches based on 3501 series, with the Tough Viking logo on the Olive Drav dial and an additional signa- ture strap in the same color.
