As a site for carrying out a SELEKCJA, the Drawsko mili- tary training ground has been chosen(and more precise- ly the center of special training in Jawor), that was well known to Kups and the former special forces soldiers as a bedrock for SOF training. A selection of the persons for the first editions of the event has been "correspon- dence-related" and has been conducted on the basis of the letters delivered the editor's office in an amount of approximately one thousand prior to the event. It has not been very professional – a skills level of the participants has frequently diverged from the achievements described in the letters (but after all paper endures all ...). The first two editions of SELEKCJA have been short, each of them has lasted 72 hours, even then they have constituted a great challenge and considerable effort, because a good, experienced team, which would manage all of that efficiently has been still missed. As a matter of fact, an axis of the game has constituted a march – long, exhausting march, which only intermittently has been interrupted by the activities realized while using the facilities, first of all the psychological, underwater and tactical tracks. The first SELEKCJA has finished at 3 AM – at that time the hosys have felt a great relief and joy that it has succeeded. They managed to fit the whole logistic support in one vehicle: a few boxes of the bread, a multi-pack of the canned lard and a container for water. Prior to the fifth edition of the SELEKCJA, Kups has had a brain wave and has conceived a thing ingenious in its simplicity – the PRE-SELEKCJA. It has been an intro- duction, which has been aimed at determining a level of physical efficiency of the participants. A very simple test based on the circuit training: at the beginning, it has been six exercises performed one after one. For each exercise has been intended 60 seconds and a break for proceed- ing to the next one has been of 30 seconds. Due to this one could make a classification and a PRE-SELEKCJA in a simple manner and resign from the illusory letter-based verification In 2004, the Polish Ministry of the National Defense closed down the "Żołnierz Polski" magazine. Arkadiusz Kups was already in the reserve at that time and he was left with this event alone. What did he do? The SELEKCJA has started with new power on the new tracks. It has appeared the ob- servers from the Military Police, the Air Cavalry, the spe- cial forces units, the Border Guard, the Internal Security Agency and the other services, whose task has consisted in finding among the participants those who could be the potential candidates for a service in their formations. www.fragoutmag.com
