The Engine The drive unit is a liquid-cooled, four-valve 686 cm3 engine with direct injection and a single camshaft. Although it weighs almost 280 kg, 50 HP allows very dynamic driving. The efficient use of power and torque is controlled by Ultramatic (V-belt) automatic gearbox with forward, backward, and parking gears. Additionally, the gearbox features an engine decelera- tion system during descents, similar to the Hill Descent Control used in off-road vehicles a n d S U V s , but in the case of such vehi- cles it was ABS-basedi. The button on the handlebars allows quick switching between 2WD (rear drive) and 4WD. With 4WD switched on, we can turn on the diff lock that increases the ve- hicle's performance on the most difficult types of terrain.. Steering system Here, we should kneel down and praise the zen of engi- neers from Yamaha who decided to use an innovative solution for this category of vehicles, i.e. electric pow- er steering. Many users claim that this was the rea- son why Grizzly 700 has been so successful and main- tained the position of the leader in its category. From the user's perspective, the steering of this Yamaha is simply perfect, regardless whether you drive on reg- ular asphalt or difficult terrain. You just do not have the feeling that you have to struggle with a machine. The vehicle will take the exact route you in- tended, without any delays or the ATV's a t - t e m p t to "op- pose" the driver. You aim at a turn, kissing the apex, fully release the damper, and you are exactly where you wanted to be. Securely and accurately. www.fragoutmag.com
