SAAB Swordfish aicraft model, which may become one
of the planes the Naval Aviation Brigade
One of the highlights of Air Fair 2017 exhibition involved
undoubtedly the programs related to technical mod-
ernization of the Polish Armed Forces, with a particular
emphasis on issues concerning aviation. After all, MOD,
represented by vice-minister Bartosz Kownacki in person,
took advantage of Air Fair to boast about several projects
and initiatives:
Ä settlement of the competition for proper names of five
jets for government VIPs transport,
Ä signing of a LOI between WZL nr 2 S.A. and Gulfstream,
Ä signing memoranda of understanding with regard to
construction of UAV to be built by entities operating within
the structure of Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa.
The initiative saw an active involvement of industry rep-
resentatives (e.g. Saab and IAI), willing to attract deci-
sion-makers with their patrol aircraft for the Naval Aviation
Brigade or MRTT aircraft.
Another highlight involved presentation of an old Lim-2
fighter (Polish made version of Soviet MiG-15bis "Fagot")
renovated by WZL nr 2 S.A. in stunning golden paint
theme. The renovation works took a full year and, interest-
ingly enough, were kept rather low profile.
