At the same time, the MTEK desginers wanted to ensure that the shell allowed seamless cooperation with all sorts of eyewear, goggles, filter masks or oxygen masks, as well as eliminated the risk of accidental hooking into cords during a parachute jump. The shell of FLUX Carbon-V has five pairs of narrow ventilation slits that force air flow – the Carbon-S variant has monotlithic structure. The weight of a complete helmet is about 900 grams (2.0 oz), while the shell alone weighs just 340 grams (0.75 oz). And it meets the ACH impact requirements. What is interesting, the FLUX Ballistic variant providing protection at NIJ IIIA (0106.01-0108.01) has a total weight of about 997 grams (2.2 oz). Impressive, huh? Apart from the unusual shape, what makes the FLUX shell so unique? Assembly system of other components – chinstrap, internal lining and external accessories. None of them is screwed with a bolt that would go through the shell. Slots of the screws were placed on an additional insert, while the clamps of inner accessories were glued to the inner part of the shell. Yep, it's completely bolt-less solution. INTERNALS During lab tests, MTEK noticed that the application of a bolt- less chin straps assembly provided a minimum distance between the helmet and the head. The retention system and liner used in FLUX helmets were designed in conjunction with the Team Wendy, leader in this segment of market. The complete system consist of: · four-point nylon chinstrap the characteristic feature of which is the lack of H or X-shaped nape pad. It results from the undercut shape of the back part of the shell (shell works like nape pad). Straps are attached to HelmetComp Inverseclip plastic sockets placed on the inside of the shell. The length of the straps can be adjusted with four Cam-Lock buckles. Their use is so convenient that you can operate them with your gloves on.
