Love LOWA by Coatee I like boots and, what is even worse – I like good-looking and functional boots. Few months ago, I got a pair of boots I had never worn before. Let me start with the things I disliked. I was afraid that the strictly functional look of the boots would interfere with my casual style. Surprisingly, after several weeks of wear, I was positively impressed that the only basic (if you ask me) disadvantage can be changed into a benefit. Did I already mention they are MultiCam? No? Personally, I am not a military gear freak or a tactical geek who wears all the equipment and stuff he has, starting from tactical boxer shorts to a tactical tourni- quets in a top-shelf uber-tactical backpack for 1K bucks. I assumed then that I would wear LOWA Innox only for shooting classes and, eventually, when outdoors. Surprise number one. It appeared that the boots go well with neutral, gray pants that "muffle" the mil- itary look of the boots. However, wearing them with a pair of jeans would be a strong declaration of mili- tary style. What is interesting, many of my friends did not even notice that the boots have a camouflage pattern! It took them some time to express comments like "hey, those boots have markings on them!" :) Surprise number two. Lowa TF Innox Mid GTX are comfortable. They are very comfortable and, what is more, light. If I were to compare them to other shoes, the closest type that comes to my mind are sneak- ers, with a raised front part of the sole. They are great for walking on pavements or asphalt thanks to the shock-absorbing sole. Although the boots protect your ankle, it does not matter whether you run on a hard surface or sand - the comfort stays the same. The upper in nicely profiled, which gives the feel of stability when I move on a rocky terrain. Mud is not the natural enivronment of those boots – of course, they perform well but the design of the front sole, de- spite large and widely arranged "blocks" of the tread, may make you slip and end up in the "Slav squat". Surprise number three. During one of my photo shoots in the mountains, I had interesting weather conditions. When I was crossing a stream on wet and slippery stones, I wrongly calculated the distance and fell into ice-cold water. The temperature of wa- ter: about 12–13°C, air temperature was 16–17°C. The place I stayed at was about 5–5.5 kilometer away. I took my boots off, wrung out my socks, put them on www.fragoutmag.com
