that help them put this requirement into practice – apart from gym and swimming pool passes, they will be also given access to e-learning platforms. Thanks to the OTrening app, they will be able to monitor their progress in working on their shape, control their weight and their diet. And if they don't feel motivated… the app will remind them of the need to complete their training! We're open to any solutions that have proven to be ef- fective. When developing the training system, we were drawing on the experience of other countries – Swe- den, United Kingdom, or other Baltic states. But the US National Guard remains our biggest inspiration. ParT iii – WHo We are Territorial Defense Forces makes it possible to go back to the roots of the noble Polish idea of shaping civic attitudes among all generations. Young Poles joining our ranks follow the example of Home Army soldiers. Those more advanced in age, having often completed specialist education and boasting rich experience gained in different parts of the world, share their knowledge and inspire motivation fueled by the will to work to the benefit of Poland. This creates people who have been long absent in our country – citi- zens–soldiers who are fit, educated, and ready to act. The beginnings of the structures of this new force date back to the second half of 2016. At present, there are bri- gades undergoing their training in three eastern provinces of Poland. Three other brigades have had their command- ers appointed already. By the end of 2017, the process of TDF brigade formation will have started in pomorskie, ku- jawsko-pomorskie, wielkopolskie, śląskie, and małopolskie provinces, with the west of Poland to follow in 2019. The goal is to have 53 thousand soldiers serving in TDF, with about 5.5 thousand of them serving as regular sol- diers. There will be 17 brigades across the country.
