What made me do it was my experience with the DROMADER system shown at MSPO 2017. It created a sensation, and played first fiddle (next to the MAPA camouflage and Grot rifles) in the cov- erages. We decided it was a bit too early to explore DROMADER in more detail as its design is still at an early stage, and so many elements of the system would be modified to a great extent. Coming back to my analysis – the fact that I can publish my text after six years with only some minor changes has come to me as an unpleasant surprise... Unfortunately, although some promising ideas and concepts offered by different companies appeared here and there, al- though there were declarations made by more and less influential people – from both the civilian and the military environ- ment, and although the interested parties voiced specific needs in a clear manner, nothing has changed, in fact. The course of action was still to order and purchase archaic individual equipment for oodles of money – and the orders for Lubawa wz. 998 tactical vests, which are still ter- rible, were not the worst thing; the worst thing was purchasing tons of wz.67 web- bing. Yes, old-school webbing, designed more than half a century ago, and now perfect for museum. There were similar- ly horrendous amounts of cash spent on retrofiting of steel helmets too. But this has come recently to an end and we won't be furnishing our army with antiques any more. By the way – close to the end of 2017, various medi offered accounts of the "Dragon-17" exercises, including photos, which illustrated the current gear and uniform of the Polish Armed Forces all too clearly. The image shown might have been a bit exagger- ated, but the strong reaction of MOD (information about the taken measures) proved that there was a grain of truth in that. So on to the main courSe. In the early 21st century one could see that modernization made its way, al- though not without any resistance or dif- ficulties (especially those of financial na- ture), to the level of individual equipment, and speaking specifically – to the level of uniform. After a series of battles, it was finally possible to force changes in the design of the battle fatigues and approve a new design. It was also possible to de- sign a uniform for sailors from scratch, which was included in the standard gear. A new vest was designed. Actually, www.fragoutmag.com
