of the firearms, weapon will look like on the pictures beside where we can see that there are already rusty spots on the piston. Well, moment for clearing the weapon is coming undoubtedly, after all it was only wipe after last covering in mud after shooting in the rain. In our opinion rifle is accurate enough, off course we do not talk here about precision shooting! This is shorty AK, that was orig- inally designed for vehicle crews, special forces and for short range engagements. We also do not fire from Hellpup at "sniper" distances, and we also use good ammu- nition and good means cheap. Maybe little not c o n s i s - tently, but we hit steel tar- get without any problem. If we try to shoot paper targets, turns out that rifle holds pretty nice group (us- ing "fine" ammunition") regardless barrel was hot or cold. If we are already talking about short barrel, it has to be mentioned that there is a huge flame coming out of the barrel, regardless we use facto- ry whistle-shaped muzzle device or something more sophisticated. Short barrel does that. Embrace it. The sound effect is also louder that standard AK, shockwave is also more sensible. Mechanics of the weapon due to weight of bolt carri- er group, weapon itself and amount of gases that hits the piston, what cause that piston works more rap- idly, makes Hellpup to feel bit more vicious than the Spoter, but still in the boundaries of common sense. Ring front sight covers are nice, because it eliminates common mis- take when firing in low light condi- tions which is aligning rear sight not with the front sight but with one of the covering lips of front sight base. What we also like in Hell- pup is the enlarged mag- azine release pad- dle. It helps e a s i l y c h a n g i n g magazines and there is no need to mount add-ons or to change the latch. Rifle works flawlessly with all mag- azines available on the market (we tested military steel ones, polymer AK From Radom and Magpul ones). There weren't any problems, and we have no malfunctions. After some time of using Hellpup, we figured that we have to dress up our kind naked friend. Our choices were: Magpul MOE® AKM Hand Guard. – Its left is side is profiled to leave original sling mount accessible. Cool! There is no need to cut off the mount and modification is in 100% reversible. Unfortunately, not ev- eryone thinks about it and in many cases hanguard upgrades requires direct and permanent removal of sling mount. The hanguard comes with polymer replacement for Top Cover. Magpul sits tighter and stron- ger than original so problem with rotation was eliminated. Eventually, we are thinking about mounting Ul- timak top cover, but there is no short version available ye. Magpul MOE® AK Grip – has much better profile and with nicer texture than original one. Standard grip is just MIL-SPEC so there is something to grab on, but if it is comfortable – nobody gives a crap. After change, it's comfortable. FIREARMS
