www.fragoutmag.com In case of my Workhorse Glock, the best solution is the product which will manage with some real filth you can find inside the chamber. Yes, that's true, I clean my Glock only when I really need to and that's not an often habit. Sometimes it's between a few thousands or even a dozen thousands of shots fired. Just to let you know, I am using this Glock for 20 years now and it works. No internal damages to the barrel or other parts of the gun found to this moment. With that amount of dirt and build-up in the gun, the priority is to degrease it. To this moment, metal brushes I have used must be a cheap one, because paired with some traditional cleaning products, they didn't work at all. I had to use more brutal methods instead. Cleaning and maintenance became easier and less time-consuming since I have received the SchleTek Gun-Cleaner and Bore-Cleaner. Due their effectiveness, the most of the dirt I am able to remove with its own applicator. The rest comes off with the brush. After cleaning there is time for maintenance: ❱ securing metal outer parts against the external factors or fluids which are aggressive to metal (mostly gun care oils) ❱ applying oil to rotating bolts, sliders, etc. In this case usually I use ProTechGuns ceramic-based oil which pre- vents against corrosion and reduces friction ❱ to smooth the trigger I apply mechanical oil in very limited does. Last is my race gun, which must be cleaned after the competition or training and it can't be left dirty. For excellent scores, you can't be careless. Being lazy is a short way to make your gun performing poor. Of course, quality of each of the parts, such as barrel, trig- ger slide or bolt is crucial, but it also requires to clean it orderly. This will improve durability and reliability in extreme conditions of IPSC, where putting 1000 rounds downrange each week is nothing unusual and that's the reason why I stress to put oil on the surfaces under heaviest work load. Recently I was using the SchleTek cleaning products and I have to admit that I was positively surprised, especially of the products for heavily used weapons. And now short story about them. I use Bore-Cleaner for barrels as indicated by manufacturer, but it also works well as a dirt remover from all metal surfaces. It's acid and ammonia free solutions and it is not aggressive to metal parts. For better effect it should be applied on the surface for few minutes, which helps to remove the old dirt. Four point application tube helps in even distribution of solution inside the barrel. It penetrates and removes lead, copper, zinc and carbon build-up or grease. Manufacturers recommends applying it for 5-6 minutes before cleaning. The Gun-Cleaner cleans almost all the weapon parts made of metal, wood, polymer or rubber. It does not contain chloride and evaporates quickly after appli- cation. It's very universal and highly effective and can be used to clean the complete gun, except the barrel where I use the Bore-Cleaner. This product works well for me as a Glock care solution. 2-in-1 Tuning features the PTFE and micro-fine ceram- ics. It was prepared with the airsoft guns in mind, but it is also effective tool to clean your firearms. A thin film left on the surface after the application protects against the moisture and sticking dirt or dust to the gun. It resists temperatures ranging from minus 40 up to plus 250 Celsius degrees. From my point of view, the dry film works best with the concealed carry gun I don't shoot very often. And that's why it should be virgin clean. Period. All of those products can be used for rifles care. The list of available gun care products is really long now, so I have only mentioned those I use for standard weapon maintenance. I am really far from the top of the top, IPSC champions or long range shooters, where expen- sive guns require a lot of care.
