INTERNALS In opposite to the currently most spread suspension systems with adjusta- ble pads, the Modular Suspension System found in Viper helmets could be named a hybrid one as it is built from following parts: Ä Impact liner adhered directly to the shell which does not contact head directly during the normal use. The impact liner consist of 9 pads in total: rear, two crown and six side pads. It also allows for free air flow which is crucial in hot and humid environment. Ä Fit-band with Dial Ratchet Mechanism for simple one handed ad- justment. The fit band has four contact points with user's head (forehead, occiput and above the ears) which are padded with soft fabric for extended comfort. These also assures the stability during dynamic movements and the helmet does not fall on the front, even with night vision system. The fit-band is permanently attached in the front part of the shell, with the very same bolt as the front mount. Ä Removable adjustable crown net for sweat wicking, comfort and low pressure for extended use. Ä Four-point retention straps with buckles for size adjustments. The chinstrap is lined with leather-like material for comfort. The retention straps are attached to the shell with four ballistic low-weight bolts. They won't become dangerous fragments after hit. Of course, if customer requires that, a No-Net option for the liner is possi- ble, then the additional comfort layer pads are mandatory. Also, the Re- vision can supply Viper helmets with classic adjustable pad system with seven pads. The MSS harness is fully compatible with hearing protection and communication headsets, even those with standard over-the-head headbands. We have tested those with MSA Sordin Supremes and 3M Pel- tor Comtacs and there was absolutely no interference or discomfort. Head- sets doesn't require to be routed through the suspension or fit-band, just put them on your head, then put your helmet on and you're good to go. The helmet is also compatible with the modern gas masks — the Avon M53 is a perfect match. www.fragoutmag.com
