It has hook & loop flap, cleverly hidden under the loop styled in the 5.11 Tactical logo. Why it is padded? The AMP packs are developed to stash a handgun there! There is tiny loop patch to attach the flat holster to secure the pistol there. Padding is to avoid printing on the outside and it really works. You don't have to carry a pistol? You can keep there even thick notepad or book. And there is some honeycomb shaped thingy on the out- side. What the hell is that? GEAR SETS All 5.11 Tactical AMP packs comes with HEXGRID 9x9 Gear Set modular panel attached to the huge loop surface on the outside of flap. This panel allows to mount all MOLLE-com- patible pockets and pouches with 12 different angles. You can attach pockets horizontally, vertically or even cant- ed. The bottom part of the 9x9 Gear Set panel might be opened and the reflective fabric can be stored there. No need for panel? Just remove it. There are two webbing straps with polymer G-hooks which can be easily disen- gaged from the loops outside the flap. Same panel might be placed inside the main compartment of the pack (to the loops mentioned earlier). When you take off the panel you will have a huge area of Velcro for all your cool guy patches to express yourself. If you are not into patches, you can use the loop to attach other panels. Currently available are: Ä Double Deploy Gear Set with two stretch detachable pockets. Pockets are zippered and might be used as rip- away med kits. Ä Admin Gear Set has single zippered pocket with nifty organizers inside. Need some more space? Attach it as an outside pocket. Ä 2 Banger Set will fit 2-4 AR-15 magazine or two flash- bangs in the rear compartment and some more gear in the large front pouch. The front pouch has flat outside pock- et and loop-lined inside pocket with wide elastic band for equipment storage. Ä Med. Pouch Gear Set is the rip-away individual first aid kit.
